Galerie de la Madeleine, the haunt of luxury boutiques

The Galerie de la Madeleine is a prestigious covered shopping arcade nestled in the heart of the Quartier de la Madeleine.
It stretches 53 meters long and 4 meters wide, connecting No. 9 Place de la Madeleine to No. 30 Rue Boissy d’Anglas.
This elegant passage is one of the 30 or so remaining covered passages in Paris.
In the early 1840s, the Compagnie du Passage Jouffroy, famous for developing the Passage Jouffroy and Passage Verdeau on the Grands Boulevards, acquired the section of Place de la Madeleine adjacent to Rue Boissy d’Anglas.
The architect Théodore Charpentier drew up the plans for the covered shopping gallery, which was inaugurated in 1845.
The Galerie de la Madeleine boasts a majestic entrance facing the iconic Madeleine Church.

Its facade is indeed adorned with sculptures and finely crafted friezes, features two remarkable caryatids sculpted by Jean-Baptiste Klagman.
Nestled beneath its double glass roof, the gallery houses exclusively luxury boutiques and designer stores, offering a true haven of peace for discerning shoppers.
For gourmets, the Galerie de la Madeleine also boasts the prestigious Lucas-Carton Restaurant. This culinary gem has retained its exquisite Art Nouveau décor, attributed to Louis Majorelle (one of the founders of the School of Nancy), and features a magnificent bronze sculpture by Louis Galli.
Reflecting the opulence of the surrounding neighbourhood, the Galerie de la Madeleine undeniably exudes an aura of prestige and elegance.
Access is free from Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
